Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer and Scale AI co-founder, is urging teenagers to devote themselves to “vibe coding”—using AI tools to generate software via plain English prompts—claiming it can provide a career-defining edge similar to what early programming did for Bill Gates.
Wang believes that mastering these tools and spending 10,000 hours practicing with them will be a huge advantage, predicting AI could write nearly all code needed in just a few years.
However, the widespread adoption of AI coding is being questioned: a new Bain report finds actual productivity boosts remain modest (10–15%), and warns that AI tools sometimes slow developers due to errors and “hallucinations,” leading to skepticism and frustration in the field. Industry leaders like Andrew Ng still emphasize traditional coding as essential, arguing it’s a foundational literacy for the AI era.

but that’s part of the 10,000 hours of using base44 or some of the other ones … the quirks and the hallucinations … you have to deal with thats writing english … i think he’s pretty smart for 28 because i wrote last month that base44 was singulatarian software … the only thing i would say is more important than 10,000 hours practicing vibe coding is spending 10,000 using the software that’s all i know that would be a better way to spend your time because working at the capstone as opposed to building more pyramid seems like it would make more sense but i was going to use base44 to get my english training in coding
i think coding with english opens up the field of software that builds on an invisible work load that’s 60 years in making across several cities but now we can code in english so i can program people and computers with the same skill set which is interesting but i’m interested in coding in english its novel enough and i might want to do some code + design work in english like something where a circle moves across the screen and the background fades from white to purple and then loop it like i might want to write coding poetry like i would code in processing.org i’m just saying coding in english is singulatarian in scope because it opens it up to the humanities and people that never thought they were going to write code and then there’s a future where you just explain to the computer what you want and how you want it tweaked and you get your meta ai photoshop software like vibe coding is going to benefit from visionary writing more than any previous coding movement visionary writing is necessary for vibe coding to flourish … what do you see?
